Yokohama City, as a "SDGs Future City, Yokohama," has a vision of "realizing a city that continues to create new value and liveliness through economy, culture, and art, centered on the environment." We are promoting various initiatives in cooperation with citizens and companies.
On January 31, 2020, Yokohama City and Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (Daiwa House Industry) concluded an agreement on sustainable urban development for suburban detached housing complexes in the Kamigo Neopolis Neighborhood Association area located in the southeastern part of Sakae Ward and adjacent areas (hereinafter referred to as "the area").
In Kamigo Neopolis, a suburban detached housing complex that was developed by Daiwa House Industry in 1970, triggered by the adoption of the "Electric Wheel Safety Measures and Spread Promotion Project" solicited by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. We will start a new means of transportation that utilizes "WHILL" as a new means of transportation to solve social issues related to the movement of people and create new local value.
In many suburban residential areas in the city, with the aging of the population, the movement of "last one mile" from home to stores such as bus stops and convenience stores has become an issue, which hinders opportunities to go out. Through demonstrations, we will consider sustainable business schemes to realize a town where everyone can freely choose a means of transportation, and to use it as a tool that allows them to go out with peace of mind even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
