It's the first time! Loans were provided by financial institutions utilizing the system to businesses seeking to obtain certification under the Y-SDGs certification system in Yokohama.

In November this year, Yokohama City announced the first 29 business operators of the Y-SDGs certification system "Y-SDGs" ("Y-SDGs") are making use of Y-SDGs to make a transition to sustainable management and operation, expand new customers and business partners, and investor financial institutions to invest in ESG investment.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (President and CEO: Makoto Takashima) has provided a loan using Y-SDGs to Yamashin filter Co., Ltd. (President: Atsuhiko Yamazaki), a local company that seeks to obtain Y-SDGs certification. Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (President: Katsunori Tanizaki), together with Japan Res. Inst. (President: Katsunori Tanizaki), confirmed the check sheets required for the acquisition of certification by Yamashin filter and used it to evaluate non-financial information.
This is the first loan using Y-SDGs, and this is the first case in which a certification system for SDGs established by a local government has been used for financing by financial institutions.
In the future, we hope that Y-SDGs will be used for investing and financing by more and more financial institutions, etc., which will lead to the support of SDGs initiatives by businesses outside and around the city. We will continue to promote initiatives that can be experienced.
