Wakame's local production and local consumption has three effects: (1) prevention of global warming, (2) improvement of water quality, and (3) promotion of biodiversity. Therefore, Wakame's local production for local consumption is positioned at an important position in the Yokohama Blue Carbon Project, a global warming countermeasure utilizing the sea.
In order to inform children of the three effects of wakame local production and local consumption of wakame and the fact that wakame is cultivated in the sea of Kanazawa Ward, an event will be held at Umi Farm, a marine education facility in Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, Yokohama.
