Yokohama City is working on the ITOP Yokohama Lab, which aims to create new projects by providing a demonstration field. With the Yokohama Southern Market (commercial facilities and markets) as a demonstration field, we are looking for proposals for products and services that bring new value to commercial facilities and markets, such as the realization of efficient facility management of commercial facilities and markets during the COVID-19 pandemic and the creation of even more bustling.

In this project, we plan to use the "South Yokohama Market (Business Area (Commercial Facilities) and Logistics Area (Market)" as a field for demonstration experiments. The facility expects proposals on products and services for the expansion of functions and efficient facility operation so that more people can come with peace of mind even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Efficiency and optimization of management and operation of commercial facilities and markets
・ Congestion of parking lots on weekends has become normal, affecting road traffic around the facility.
・ The flow lines of general vehicles and logistics vehicles intersect, hindering smooth traffic.
・ We would like to improve the efficiency of logistics within the plant, such as the smooth handling of logistics vehicles.
・ The COVID-19 pandemic has hindered the transmission of information between companies and organizations in the facility.

Creation of bustling commercial facilities
・ We want you to enjoy shopping in the facility safely and securely even during times of congestion.
・ I want a mechanism to promote the improvement of migration between the market and commercial facilities.
・ We want to efficiently and effectively disseminate information on in-house events and stores in the facility.

Yokohama City has launched IoT Open Innovation Partners (I.TOP Yokohama), a place for exchange and cooperation, project promotion, and human resource development to create businesses utilizing IoT and other technologies. In collaboration with various companies and institutions in Japan and overseas, I. TOP Yokohama is working to develop high value-added products and services, create new businesses, and solve social issues utilizing new technologies through open innovation.

Yokohama is facing social issues such as a declining birthrate and aging population, a decline in the working-age population, and aging urban infrastructure, especially in suburban areas. On the other hand, various international events are held in Yokohama, and it is also a city that has opportunities for the future leap, such as communicating the appeal of the city and revitalizing the economy. Under these circumstances, I.TOP Yokohama has established the I.TOP Yokohama Lab as a new framework to help companies create projects and commercialize projects, as well as to solve social issues, in order to resolve issues and possibilities facing Yokohama through IoT, and to develop and satisfy needs through IoT.

In April 2015, the southern market, which was opened in November 1973, will utilize the “logistics area” that complements the home of the central wholesale market and the know-how of private businesses in line with the reorganization and enhancement of functions of the market. It has been divided into a “buzzing area” with the concept of “food”.
With the opening of the branch Yokohama Nanbu Market in 2019, the “Yokohama Nanbu Market Food Specialty Store Street (formerly known as the Food Related Wholesale Center)” was renewed, and it was reborn as the southern Yokohama market, which combines “logistics” and “lively”.
