Designated Emergency evacuation sites, Designated Evacuation Center

Last update date September 26, 2023

In the past, places to protect lives from the danger of an imminent disaster and the place to live an evacuation life have not always been clearly distinguished, and the Great East Japan Earthquake contributed to the spread of damage. For this reason, the Disaster Countermeasures Basic Law has been revised to specify "designated emergency evacuation sites" to escape from the danger of an imminent disaster and a "designated evacuation center" to live an evacuation life. Check the evacuation sites / evacuation route and shelter in advance, and prepare for a disaster.

Designated Emergency evacuation sites

"Designated Emergency evacuation sites" is a place to escape from the danger of an imminent disaster and specifies for each type of disaster (. Flood / landslide, debris flow and landslide / high tides / earthquake) (also used as a designated evacuation center) . In Yokohama City, it is selected from the evacuation shelter designated as a designated evacuation center.
In addition, disaster types "tsunami" and "large-scale fire" are specified according to the following designated standards.

"tsunami": The city is an evacuation facility in tsunami ※evacuation shelter is designated among the facilities designated as 1.
"Large-scale fire": The city is evacuation area ※Specify the evacuation shelter specified in 2

About opening of designated emergency evacuation sites

In addition to designated locations, public facilities such as district centers and community care plazas, and Neighborhood Association Neighborhood Associations Building may be opened as evacuation sites. When evacuating, let's check the evacuation information from the government (city homepage, Yokohama City Disaster Prevention Information E-mail, public relations vehicles, etc.).
