What is evacuation shelter?

What is evacuation shelter?
In addition to the function of a designated evacuation center (an evacuation center for those who have lost their homes due to an earthquake and cannot live), the city is called the evacuation shelter.
In order to ensure that evacuees are not concentrated in certain evacuation shelter, evacuation destinations are designated in advance according to the place of residence. (For details, please refer to the page of "Disaster Prevention Map (Hazard Map, etc.)".)
evacuation shelter will be established when shaking with a seismic intensity of 5 or more is observed in Yokohama.
The establishment and operation of the evacuation shelter will be carried out in cooperation with evacuees, led by the evacuation shelter Steering Committee, which is organized by residents, school officials and government from normal times.
Role of evacuation shelter
Designated evacuation centers
It is a place for those who have lost their homes due to the earthquake or those who have difficulty living at home to live for a certain period of time.
There is a minimum stockpile necessary for evacuees' lives, such as food, drinking water, and blankets.
Places for supplying supplies and information to affected people at home
survivors, who lives at home, can also visit evacuation shelter to receive relief supplies and disaster information gathered in evacuation shelter.
Rescue and rescue bases for residents
We have prepared equipment for rescue operations by residents community support and rescue of injured.
Equipment is stored in each evacuation shelter emergency storage facility.
evacuation shelter establishment and operation training
We conduct training on the establishment and operation of evacuation shelter so that more residents can understand the establishment and operation of evacuation shelter so that they can respond smoothly in the event of a disaster.
