Last Updated January 10, 2024
Evacuation is about avoiding difficulties, and going to evacuation sites is not the only evacuation behavior.
Please consider evacuation sites in advance, such as "evacuation at home" when safety can be ensured at home or by keeping a safe relative or friend's home as an evacuation destination.
Hodogaya Ward Designated Evacuation Center (evacuation shelter)
When an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5 or more occurs in Yokohama, a nearby municipal elementary and junior high schools (in Hodogaya Ward: 27 locations) designated by Yokohama City will be established as evacuation shelter. evacuation shelter is a place where people who have difficulty living at home, such as being destroyed or may collapse due to the earthquake, can live for a certain period of time. In addition to serving as an evacuation center equipped with disaster prevention equipment, it also plays a role as a base for receiving and transmitting information and collecting and distributing supplies for evacuees (including home evacuees).
Always have a place for discussions with your family and community to check your own evacuation shelter and safe evacuation routes.

Precautions for evacuation
1. First of all, please make sure that you are safe for yourself.
2. Please evacuate not only to designated elementary and junior high schools, but also to a large and safe place such as nearby schools, parks and vacant lots.
3. If you cannot return to your home due to collapse of the house, evacuate to the designated elementary and junior high school (evacuation shelter (designated evacuation center)).
4. If it becomes dangerous due to the spread of nearby fires, evacuate to evacuation area (see the table below).
5. The stockpile of water and food at the evacuation shelter (designated evacuation center) is limited because it is the minimum stockpile for those who cannot take out household stockpiled food due to collapse of their homes or fires. Therefore, prepare at least three days of stockpiling at each home, and bring your stockpile at home as much as possible when evacuating.
