"Tsuzuki Living Research Institute" Opening-Discovering the charm of Tsuzuki through fieldwork! ~

The first round of the workshop was held. Tsuzuki Life Research Institute is a public participation course that researches attractive places and people in Tsuzuki Ward   and study how to enjoy living in Tsuzuki.
The first session was divided into three teams, "culture", "nature", and "connection" as "resource excavation fieldwork", and visited people who are energetically engaged in local activities.

■"Culture" team
We visited the Tsuzuki Club, which has been involved in the promotion of Tsuzuki's culture for many years, and Tsuzuki Minkaen, which preserves and uses private houses from the Edo period. We heard from Tsuzuki Club that since the development of Kohoku New Town, we have created citizen culture from scratch with our own hands. The “Starry Sky Concert” held in summer has been established as an event where you can easily enjoy full-fledged music, and the voices and support of those who want to continue every year are the driving force behind the activities.
Tsuzuki Minkaen holds about 300 events a year, including handmade soba workshops and kimono dressing experience. Mr. Kimura of the park commented that they would not only complete their hobbies and favorite things in themselves, but also to return such efforts to other inhabitants of the ward.

■"Nature" team
We visited the NPO Tsuzuki Satoyama Club, which is working on nature conservation at Tsuzuki Chuo Park, and a farmer who is growing Komatsuna. Mr. Yokoyama, Secretary-General of Tsuzuki Satoyama Club, asked about the difficulty and worthwhile of operating an NPO, and also observed how charcoal making using trees in the park.
Next, we interviewed Asari Shirota, who produces komatsuna in Higashigatacho. He asked about the strengths of farming in a single variety that grows only komatsuna, how it should be distributed in the future, and his responsibilities as a farmer to deliver security, and also showed baby Komatsuna.

■"Connection" team
In Higashiyamata, we visited Chako Village, a place for residents to relax, and Asta Eda, an NPO that provides employment support for people with disabilities. After Chako's death, we interviewed two grandchildren who run Chako Village, who inherited their thoughts and management points. (During the interview, you can also get in from your neighborhood, such as grilled mackerel and stew!)
At Asta Eda, located in the Edaminami neighborhood center shopping district, we interviewed Mr. Funabashi, the representative, about his efforts, and asked him about his daily issues, how to snuggle up with people with disabilities, how they were devising, and succeeding. . We also looked back on fieldwork while drinking coffee at the attached cafe space.

Through interviews, I felt the importance of knowing the history of the town behind the activities. I also learned that creating sympathy from others can broaden their activities and lead to encounters with friends. From the next time on, we will summarize this interview and link it to the original research report by the students.
