　From September 1 to October 6, disaster drill (evacuation shelter Training) took place in each region.
　Karuizawa Junior High School, Ippommatsu Elementary School, Okano Junior High School, Oimatsu Junior High School, Miyatani Elementary School, Nisi Junior High School, Sengendai Elementary School and Higashi Elementary School were held at eight locations in evacuation shelter.
　This year, Nishi Ward has been focusing on measures to prevent toilets at evacuation centers, and training was being conducted at each site to assemble temporary toilet, which is directly connected to sewers. There were many places where training was conducted just like a real disaster, such as connecting hoses from the pool to drain water into the sewer pipe, and devising ways that are easy for people using wheelchairs to use.
　Toilet measures in the event of an earthquake are an important issue, so I felt very encouraging about the local people who trained. .　
　In addition, there were various trainings such as supply of hot meals and the division of gymnasiums, but foreigners also came to visit Okano and had a good opportunity to learn about unfamiliar Japanese evacuation centers. In addition, visually impaired people participated in Higashi Elementary School and received advice on how to support living in evacuation centers. .
　Cooperation between local residents and ward offices and schools is essential for the operation of evacuation centers. We will continue to work together to create disaster-resistant Nishi Ward by valuing the connections between local people and the local government.
