Beware of suspicious visits, telephone calls, and e-mails that pretend to be Water Works Bureau officials.

In the whole city of Yokohama, suspicious individual and suspicious phone calls were sent to Water Works Bureau officials, including Water Works Bureau officials and contractors, saying they received instructions and requests from Water Works Bureau. In addition, we have received information that suspicious emails have been sent.

Water Works Bureau doesn't do the following: Please be careful.
  • Surveys and water quality inspections of pipes that are not requested.
  • Repair and investigation of water pipes in the house and charge for work.
  • Door-to-door sales, rental and mediation of water purifiers
  • Notification of unpaid water charges and water outages by e-mail
If there is a visit related to water supply, be sure to ask for your ID and confirm it.
If you have any doubts, please contact the Water Works Bureau Customer Service Center without entering the house or immediately contracting or paying money. If you receive a suspicious email, delete it without opening it.

"I was asked by Water Works Bureau to investigate the leak of an old water pipe."

Water Works Bureau does not conduct surveys on pipes that are not requested by customers.
(Excluding underground water leakage surveys by the Water Distribution Division Leakage Administration Section and cases where it was announced in advance.)

Case 2 “Water Quality Inspection”

There was a phone call saying Water Works Bureau and a contractor saying, "Please prepare a glass of water and conduct a water quality test." He put a machine in the water of the cup and said, "There is rust and the water quality is not good." He was advised to clean the water pipe in the house and was offered an estimate of the cost.

"Water Works Bureau. I came to the water quality inspection. I put the faucet water in a cup and put the medicine there, and turned pink (* 1). . "This water is not good, so it is better to attach a water purifier." He was offered to purchase or lease a water purifier, and was presented with the amount.

Water Works Bureau does not conduct water quality tests without customer requests. (Except when notified in advance.)
In addition, we do not sell, rent, or mediate water purifiers or water servers.
(* 1) Tap water turned pink due to the reaction of chlorine for disinfection and chemicals. It's not an abnormality in water quality.
