Prevention of freezing of water pipes

If the temperature falls below freezing, the water in the water pipe may freeze, causing no water to come out, or the water pipe may burst and leak.
As described below, please cooperate in preventing freezing of water pipes.

• Pipes exposed (exposed) outdoors
• It is located on the north side of the house and is not exposed to the sun.
• Pipes in windy places

※Care must be taken especially when the temperature drops below -4°C.

• Wrap it completely over the faucet with a heat insulating material, blanket, or piece of cloth.
• To protect the meter, put a used blanket or a piece of styrofoam, etc. in the meter box to keep it warm.
• If water is poured little by little from the faucet into the bathtub, etc., the water is flowing constantly, making it difficult to freeze. (In addition, please note that the water charge will be charged for the flushed.)

Water pipes may burst due to cold waves and leak water. If you are absent for a long time, please close the valve (assistant stopcock) in the meter box when you go out.

• If the faucet freezes, wait for it to thaw naturally, or cover the frozen area with a towel and slowly lubricate it with lukewarm water.
  ※Care should be taken as suddenly applying hot water may cause pipes and faucets to burst or damage the hydrant.
• If water does not come out even if the faucet is opened due to freezing, the faucet may remain open, but be sure to close the faucet even if water does not come out.

• If the water pipe and water meter (meter glass) rupture, close the valve in the meter box to the extent possible and stop the water. At this time, please cover the ruptured area with cloth or tape before applying for repair. However, be careful not to get injured by broken glass.
• Leakage from the water meter to the faucet cannot be repaired at Water Works Bureau.Private waterworks shops (List of leak repair companies on the downstream side of the meter)Please ask me to repair it.
