City Library Yokohama became a new library information system from Monday, January 15, 2024.
The new system has a wide range of services that can be used without visiting the museum and functions that can be operated from mobile terminals such as smartphones.

About the new page of online catalog
The online catalog page has been updated
The URL of the online catalog page has been changed.
Please check the website of each browser for how to change the "bookmark" and "favorite" of your browser.
If you are using feature phone, please see the mobile version (external site).
※If you make a reservation from the mobile version, you will need to register your email address.

Notes on the New online catalog page
Since the password has been reset, a new setting is required.
- The password has not been migrated from the previous system to the new system.
- When logging in for the first time, log in with the "Initial Password" (8 digits of birth).
- The initial password cannot be used as it is. You need to reset your password when you log in for the first time.
- If you receive an error when entering the initial password, please contact us at the library window or telephone.
- If you mistake your password for 10 consecutive times, you may not be able to log in for 30 minutes even if you enter the correct password. If you are unable to log in after more than 30 minutes, please contact the library.
The method of checking the book you booked has been changed.
- When making an online reservation, be sure to select the contact method from the library. (Two types: "Email" or "No communication required")
- Please register your e-mail address to inform you that the book has been prepared from the library.
If you do not register your email address, you can only select "No contact required". - If you select "No contact required", the reservation deadline will be 7 days after the opening date from the day after the book is prepared. After the reservation deadline, cancellation (cancellation) will be made.
※There is no communication from the library. Please note that when the book is ready, there will be an automatic storage deadline.
※If the receiving library is the mobile library "Hamakaze-go", the "next patrol day" will be the deadline. - Books that have been canceled (cancelled) after the reservation deadline can be found in "My Library".
- Books booked before December 24, 2023 do not need to be set.
However, if you change the book you have reserved (reception hall, expiration date of the reservation, etc.), you need to select from "Email" or "No contact required".
The procedure for Internet reservation has changed.
- When making an Internet reservation, the new system has changed to a method in which the book you want to reserve once in the "reservation basket" and then proceed with the reservation procedure.
- It has the same image as the "cart" and "shopping basket" for online shopping. Please note that the reservation will not be completed just by putting it in the "reservation basket".
- The function is different from the previous "reservation basket". The previous "reservation basket" function can be used on "My Bookshelf".

Q.Can I use the library card as before? Do you need to make settings on the online catalog page?
A.You can continue to use your library card if it has not expired.
If you use the online catalog page on the Internet to reserve books, extend loans, check the status of lending and reservations, you need to set a password.
If you use only the counter or telephone, you can use it without setting a password on the online catalog page.
Q. I can't log in to the new online catalog page.
A.When you log in to the new online catalog page for the first time, you will need to change it after logging in with your initial password.
The password used on the old online catalog page has been reset.
If you are unable to log in after trying the following methods, please contact us at the library window or telephone.
Set a password for the first time on the new online catalog page
- Please enter your library card number and initial password (8 single-byte number) from the "Login" button at the top right of the online catalog page.
- The "Change Password" screen will be displayed.
- In the <Current Password> field, enter the initial password (8 single-byte numbers with the date of birth (AD)).
- Enter the new password in the <New Password> field, and enter the same password as the one entered in the <New Password> field in the <Confirm Password> field.
- Finally, press Update.

You cannot log in even if you enter the initial password (the date of birth (the date of birth) is 8 digits).
The user number (library card) may have expired.
If the password has expired, you will not be able to change the password. Please complete the registration renewal procedure.

Q.Do I need to change the email address registered in the previous system?
A.The registered e-mail address has been handed over to "User Information" on the new online catalog page. There is no need to change or register again.
Various information can now be distributed from the registered e-mail address. Please set the distribution on the "User Information" setting screen.
If you are going to register in the future, please refer to "How to register e-mail".
Q.From which screen can I check the book on loan or book on reservation?
A.After logging in on the online catalog page, you can check it from the My Library page.

About "My Library"
Q. Has the reservation changed?
A. In the new system, the book you want to reserve once in the "reservation basket" and then changed to the method of making a reservation.
Please note that the function is different from the "reservation basket" of the previous system.
In addition, when making an Internet reservation, please select either "E-mail" or "No communication required" as the contact method from the library.
Please note that if you select "No contact required", there will be no contact from the library, and the opening date will be 7 days after the book is ready.

How to make a reservation from the "reservation basket"
Q. I registered a book in the reservation basket, will it be taken over to the new system?
A. It is stored in "My Bookshelf" as "Old Reservation basket (~ December 2023)".
Materials that were registered in the "Reservation basket" in the previous system have been transferred to the new system "My Bookshelf" as "Old Reservation basket (~ December 2023)".
"My Bookshelf" is a function that allows you to collect library books on the web according to your preferences.
You can make a reservation by putting it in a new "reservation basket" from "My Bookshelf".

Q. What happened to the book you are waiting for in line and the book you are borrowing?
A. Information on books you have reserved and books on loan has been handed over to the new system.

Q. I can't receive the reservation email.
A. If you do not receive the reservation notification e-mail sent from the library, you may be asked to re-register your e-mail address.

Q.The barcode on the digital library card is not displayed correctly.
A.Depending on the settings of the smartphone (such as enlarged display), the barcode may be displayed in two rows.
If the screen is rotated sideways, it may be displayed correctly, so check with your own device.
Even if the barcode cannot be displayed correctly depending on the model, you can borrow it, so please show the screen as it is.

You can display your current library card number on your smartphone.
Even if you don't carry a library card, you can borrow a book by logging in to "My Library" with your smartphone.
How to use digital library cards
It can also be displayed from the menu of the Yokohama City LINE official account.
LINE Collaboration Service
The library menu has been added to the official LINE account of Yokohama City.
In addition to online catalog on the talk screen, AI chatbots can respond to inquiries and display digital library cards.
Web bookshelf
This service displays searched books and related books on the Web so that they line up on the library shelves.
You can look for a book near the book you find, like looking at the bookshelf.
Online User Registration
Registration / renewal of library cards and changes to registered contents can now be performed online without visiting the library. (except in some cases)

If you enter the sentences and words you come up with, AI will introduce related books.
We suggest how to find a book different from the previous book search. This is the first service to be introduced in Japan.
New functions have been added to the search for books.
You can choose a book while looking at the cover
Until now, only information such as book titles, author names, publishers, etc. was displayed, but it is now possible to select books while looking at the cover.
※Some books cannot be displayed on the cover.
You can also find e-books and digital archives content at the same time.
The content of e-books and digital archives is now available on the online catalog page along with books and magazines.
The function of "My Library" after logging in has been increased.
The number of services after login will increase.
In addition to book reservations, book lending status / reservation status confirmation, etc., the number of available services has increased.
About "My Library"
You can make "My Bookshelf"
- You will be able to collect library books on your "My Bookshelf" on the web according to your preferences.
- The data of the previously used "reservation basket" has been transferred to "My Bookshelf" as "old reservation basket".
You will be able to freely set the "initial value" of the building that receives the book for reservation.
- Until now, it was not possible to freely change the initial value of the reservation receiving hall, but it can now be changed in "My Library".
