Information on registration, renewal, and change procedures online

You can apply for user registration, registration update, and change of registration information online.
If you would like to apply, please read the following explanation and proceed to the content you want to proceed.

Application (Notes)

It will take some time from application to registration. (Approximately 3 days after application)

When registration is completed, you will be notified of your user number (library card number) by e-mail.
Depending on the application details or the status of the application, additional time may be required. Thank you for your understanding.
If you are in a hurry, if you would like to issue a plastic library card, please go to the library counter.
Only advance application is made online, and "temporary registration application" to be filed at the counter can be issued on the same day.

To confirm your application details, we may contact the e-mail address registered at the time of application or Phone number.

The following information will be sent to the registered address in the future. (Only for those who wish. You can change it on My Page.)
 We are pleased to inform you that our reservation materials are ready.
 We will notify you when the expiration date of the user number (library card number) is near.
 We will notify you if the deadline for returning materials on loan has expired.
 You can receive information on newly arrived books (conditions must be registered in advance by "new arrival mail registration").
If the library is unavoidable suddenly closed due to the spread of infectious diseases or natural disasters, etc., we may notify you urgently.
※If you are taking measures against spam (specified domain reception, reception permission, etc.)
 Please make settings so that you can receive mail from "yokohama-library@lib.city.yokohama.lg.jp".

※The personal information you enter will be properly managed in accordance with the "Personal Information Protection Law" and will not be used for any purpose other than library operations.

Documents to be prepared

If you wish to register, update, or change your registration information, you need a copy of your identity verification document (image data).
※If you wish to register, renew, or change at the counter (temporary registration application), you do not need to attach a certificate.

Example of confirmation documents

  • My Number Card
  • Driver's license
  • Health insurance card
  • Certificates issued by local governments and government agencies. Copy of resident certificate, certificate of family register (certificate of all matters in family register), disability certificates, receipt of partnership oath, etc. (However, copies of resident certificate, certificate of family register and other items without expiration date are issued within three months of issuance.)
  • Receipt of utility bill (within three months of issuance, with Address, name and ward name, address, room number, etc.)
  • Student ID card, student handbook
  • Mail sent to the applicant whose postmark is within 3 months. (If you would like to confirm by mail, please present a cash card or other items that can be used to identify yourself. However, members cards that have not passed the identity of the issuer are excluded. )

  • If the expiration date is stated, it must be within the expiration date.
  • In the case of receipts, etc., it must be within 3 months from the date of issue.
  • If you live outside of Yokohama City and commute to Yokohama City, you will also need documents (employee ID, student ID card, student handbook, etc.) that can identify your place of work and school.
    If you do not have a document that can identify your employer in the city, please attach certificate of employment. If there is no style specified at your place of work, please use this form.

Notes on the attached file

  • Up to two files that can be attached to the application (up to one when attaching a My Number Card).
  • There are three types of attached file format: gif, jpg, and png, and the file size is within 1024KByte.
  • If you exceed the upper limit of the attachment, you will not be able to apply online.
  • The submitted certificate will be deleted after confirmation.

Those who can apply for online registration

Those who live, work, or attend school in Yokohama

If you live near Yokohama City (wide-area use registration) cannot register online. Please apply for a wide area use card at the library counter.

Wide-area use (information)

Those who make a library card for the first time, or whose user number (library card number) has expired (those who need to register again)

If your user number (library card number) has not expired, you can use it as it is by renewing your registration.

Points to note when applying

Please read the following precautions, and if you agree, please proceed to the application page.

A valid email is required to apply.

It is necessary for the URL to send a copy of the identity verification document required for registration (photo data) and to contact us after registration is completed.

In the case of online registration application, a plastic "library card" will not be issued.

Only the "digital library card" displayed on the smartphone can be used.
(It will be displayed by logging in to the online catalog page.)
If you would like to issue a plastic library card, please apply at the library window or by mail.
(If you have a plastic library card, you can use it together with a digital library card.)

If you wish to register online, please be sure to attach a certificate.

On the screen for entering the application form, check "Send electronically" of the identity verification certificate.
If you do not have a certificate attached, you will need to visit the library and register at the counter.

If you agree to the above, please click the "Apply" button and proceed to the application page.
※If you do not agree, please apply at the library window or by mail.

Apply in advance for registration before visiting the museum (temporary registration application)

You can apply for temporary registration online in advance before visiting the library.
In the case of a temporary registration application, it is not necessary to attach a certificate. You can apply at the counter from the day of application.
On the screen for entering the application form, please check "Bring" your identity verification certificate.
Within 14 days after the application, please bring the "reception number" issued after the provisional registration application and the one that can confirm your identity and current address to the library registration counter.

Change the registered contents (application for change of registration items)

If the registered contents of Address or Phone number are changed, some changes may be made online. It is necessary to attach a user number (library card number) and a copy of the identity verification document (photo data).
User number (library card number) can be used continuously.
You cannot move out of the city, revoke your qualifications for working or attending school, or changing your name online. Please contact us by phone or apply at the counter.

Renew the registration

You can renew your registration three months before the expiration date. You can check the expiration date from My Page.
※If the expiration date has passed, you will not be able to apply online. Please apply at the counter.

1.How to apply from My Library (My Page in online catalog page)

When you log in to My Library, a notification will be displayed during the registration renewal period.

2.How to apply from e-mail before the expiration date

If you have registered your e-mail address, we will send you an e-mail notifying you before the expiration date.
You can apply from the URL provided in the email.

In order to open PDF files, you may need a separate PDF reader.
