※Manila (National Capital Region =NCR, commonly known as Metro Manila) and the City of Manila.
Manila is the capital city of Manila (Metro Manila) that fulfills the capital functions of the capital.
The Manila metropolitan area was enacted by the Presidential Ordinance (PD) 824 of 1975, and four cities (Manila, Kaesong, etc.) and 13 towns (Makati, Makirina, Munchinlpa, etc.) and was born in 8 cities and 9 towns.
Here, the Manila Metropolitan Government (Metro Manila Authority) plays an administrative function in the metropolitan area, and the metropolitan area council plays a role like a parliament. The city of Manila, one of the 19 Highly Urbanied City (similar to Japan's ordinance-designated cities), is the sister city of Yokohama.

Sister city partnership date: July 1, 1965 (Showa 40)
When Mayor Manila visited Yokohama in 1963, the Mayor of Manila visited Yokohama, the mayor expressed his hope to establish a sister city relationship. Subsequently, Manila citizens made an active request through the Manila International Sister Cities Association, it was realized.
