Area: 437.71 square kilometers (approximately the same as Yokohama)
Population: Approximately 21 million people (2011)
Climate: A typical tropical monsoon climate. It can be divided into rainy season (mid-June to late September) and dry season (early October to early June).
Geography: The west coast of India overlooking the Arabian Sea.
The gateway to West India, which was formed by U.K. by 1862, around the seven islands of COLABA, SMALL COLABA, WORLI, MAHIM, MAZAGON, PAREL, and MUMBADEVI by 1862.
It has been developed as a port and commercial city, and the city has many buildings from the British era and high-rise apartments. It is also famous for movie production, and is also called Bollywood (Bombay's Hollywood) movie.

The origin of Mumbai's name
It is a name that has been used since ancient times.
In Malati, it is said to be derived from the Mumbar (MUMBA), where the local native Kori (KOLI) worships as a guardian deity.
History

Yokohama has many Indian trading companies before the war, and many people are from India, so there was a request for a sister city partnership.
In addition, the two cities formed a sister city tie-up because they received a letter from the mayor of Mumbai (then Bombay) to request a partnership.

In order to deepen exchanges with the sister city of Mumbai, the Friendship Committee of Citizens is engaged in various activities.
Indian Water Tower
There is an Indian Water Tower in Yamashita Park, located in Naka Ward, Yokohama. This is an Indian drinking fountain completed in December 1939, and was donated to Yokohama by the Yokohama Indian Commerce Association to thank the citizens of Yokohama for their assistance to Indians residing in the area affected by the Great Kanto Earthquake.
