Tropical forests around the world play an important role as carbon dioxide absorption sources and habitats for diverse flora and fauna, as well as providing a variety of products and services to our lives, including wood and food. conservation, the International Tropical Woods Organization (ITTO), which engages in the sustainable use of tropical forests, and the city of Yokohama, which promotes biodiversity initiatives in the conservation, collaborates with zoos and local communities to promote awareness-raising activities that capture opportunities to learn about the importance of biodiversity and the environment.
In this effort, we will deepen our relationship with ITTO, the Yokohama City Green Environment Bureau, and the Yokohama City Greenery Association, the designated manager of the municipal zoo, conclude an agreement on dissemination of tropical forests and biodiversity in conservation and sustainable use.
