Elementary school students will plant rice on the rooftop of Totsuka Ward Office!

　A fifth grader at Tozuka Elementary School (4 classes, 140 students) make rice on the roof paddy field (34 meters above the ground, about 50 square meters above the ground) on the 8th floor of the Totsuka Ward Office with the cooperation of farmers in JA Yokohama and Maiokacho.
　Rice making on the rooftop paddy field begins with the relocation of the ward office in 2013, and is the 11th this year. I hope that elementary school studenｔ will deepen their understanding of agriculture and their interest in local production for local consumption through one year of rice in the rooftop paddy field.
