Confirmation of fire ants at Yokohama Port

In a regular national port survey conducted by the Ministry of the Environment every year (hereinafter referred to as the “national port survey”), an ant found at two locations at Honmoku Wharf on September 18, 2024 (Wednesday) As a result of identification by experts, it was confirmed that fire ants, which are specific alien organisms requiring emergency response (*).
Insecticide bait (bait) is installed around the confirmation site.
Yokohama City will continue to cooperate with the survey and control conducted by the Ministry of the Environment.
The place where the ant is confirmed is in the container yard and is an area that cannot be accessed by the general public. In addition, there are no reports of human damage regarding this matter.
