The Institute for Environmental Science conducts temperature observations in summer (July and August) at 43 locations in the city.
The average temperature in July at all locations in 2020 was 24.5°C, and the average temperature in August was 29.4°C. Compared to the monthly average temperature for each year over the past 10 years (from 2010 to the first year of Reiwa), July was approaching a record low of 0.1 ° C in July, while August was a record high. 2020 was the year when the temperature difference between July and August was the largest.
