Increase in sightings of Thai squirrels revealed by a survey of more than 10,000 elementary school students ~ Announcement of Children's "Ikiiki" Creature Survey 2019 Survey ~

During the summer vacation of 2019, the Yokohama Institute of Environmental Science conducted a city-wide survey of elementary school studenｔ at 342 schools in Municipal Elementary Schools Yokohama to report creatures found near their homes and schools. We are pleased to announce the results of responses from elementary school studenｔ at 169 schools.
We were able to obtain valuable information that will contribute to the biodiversity conservation in the future, including the increasing number of exotic species of squirrels, the decline in toads, and the current status of hack frogs (birds) found only in parts of the city.
