Special number hidden in the stadium

Shin-Yokohama Park (Nissan Stadium) Designated Manager Representative Organization Yokohama City Sports Association Keita Kai

This year, the 26th anniversary of its opening, Nissan Stadium has a special number inherited by successive staff in charge of management and operation. 「3964」、「70103」、「8→9」、「23」。 These figures are related to the three major international competitions in which the finals took place at the stadium.

The Law of 3964
The Law of "3964"

The first "3964" relates to events in the locker room used during the official practice the day before the finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup TM Japan-Korea Games. This is the number used by the Brazilian leaders to inspire the team within the locker, ahead of the finals the day.

This "3964" is an auspicious figure that adds the winning year of the country that won multiple times in the World Cup. Combined with the two winning years of Brazil, Germany, and Argentina, it happened to be "3964". The addition of "1962" and "2002" of this tournament will be "3964" because it will be "3964". I am sure we will win this tournament. Let's calm down and enjoy the best stage! "I imagine you said. The whiteboard with this "3964" is covered with a protective cover, and you can still see the real thing on the stadium tour. Why don't you experience becoming a member of the Brazilian national team at that time?
After "3964", the whiteboard at that time stated that the next tournament (2006 Germany tournament) would also be "3964" if the Brazilian national team added "1958" and "2006", which were the past championships of Brazil. However, in fact, the 2006 German national team won the 9th anniversary of the Italian national team.

The second "70103" is a special number that has not yet been broken, recorded in the finals of the Rugby World Cup 2019 TM Japan Games, England vs South Africa. Prior to this tournament, the largest number of visitors recorded at the stadium was 69,029 in the finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup TM Japan-Korea Games, Germany vs Brazil. This tournament is the first Asian event, and as the tournament progresses, the number of fans gathering at the venue increases steadily, such as the success of the Japanese national team in the top 8, and finally in the final match against England vs South Africa, the past It recorded a great number that repainted the largest number of visitors, "70103". Along with domestic supporters who were fascinated by the `` no side spirit '', many overseas rugby fans enjoyed this battle without enemy allies and enjoyed high touches and ale exchanges to share wonderful time The enthusiasm when looking over the stand from the field was a valuable experience that I would never forget. In the future, I hope that I will be able to witness the moment beyond this record.

Yu-Suichi Function
On the day before the Battle of Japan, the Yu-Suichi function is exhibited

Also, on the day before the match between Japan and Scotland, which broke through the group stage, the impact of Typhoon No. 19 showed the Yu Suichi function of Shin-Yokohama Park, where this stadium is located, that draws water from the Tsurumi River. Was. Due to the heavy rain and wind, the installations inside and outside the venue were temporarily removed and waiting for the typhoon to pass, but the next day's match against Japan will always be held, and if there is an instruction from the Organizing Committee, We are ready to start recovery work at any time. Along with the work instructions for holding the game, which was issued early in the morning of the game, we were able to clean and disinfect the ground surface, which had been flooded up to just a few hours ago, in a limited time, and finish it . As a result, we were able to hold the game as if nothing had happened. Unfortunately, the battle between England and France was canceled due to this typhoon, but by minimizing the impact and realizing the Japan match, we were able to share our long-awaited top 8 with many people. It is our pride.

Soccer Men's Awards Ceremony

The third “8 → 9” is a number related to the number of games that showed a very honorable change as the venue for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games soccer competition. Preparations up to the event will take a few years. For us, who had been working with the Organizing Committee and many volunteer staff to provide the best environment, the fact that the event was postponed for one year and that the event was held without spectators was very difficult. Initially, the plan to hold a soccer competition at this stadium was to play a total of eight games, five boys and three girls. However, after the opening of the tournament, due to the extreme heat, discussions were underway to change the kick-off time for the women's finals from 11:00 to 21:00, and there was a consultation at this stadium due to the relationship between the competition schedule and venue setting. Since the schedule is to add a new women's final match the day before the planned men's final match, we manage the venue to adjust the condition of the competition pitch (natural turf) that will be used every day, We have adjusted the change in the cleaning work plan for the area used. At the same time, the Organizing Committee in charge of the competition management can make this major change by clearing many issues such as venue decoration and material adjustment used for the award ceremony, and as a result, the number of games held at this stadium has been changed to "8 → 9". This was realized because of the unity of the team of stakeholders who had repeated meetings several times before the event and worked together for the success of the tournament. As a member of this, the relief that was able to finish the tournament safely was impressive. In this tournament, the award ceremony with no audience is one of the unforgettable scenes.

Also, the stadium has a variety of faces. The stadium is literally a general stadium, with a capacity of about 72,000, the largest in Japan. In addition to the use of sports in soccer, rugby, and athletics, we have supported many records and scenes that will be remembered by everyone, including concert performances by top artists. Many people may remember the dance performed in the field after participating in the Yokohama Municipal Elementary Schools Sports Festival.

On the other hand, the park including the stadium is the largest sports park in the city. There is a Yusuichi function that reduces flood damage. The fourth "23" is the number related to the Yusuichi function. From the start of the Yusuichi operation in June 2003 to the present, the total number of floods in the Tsurumi River has been saved is 23 times. While there are many floods during the typhoon season, we have also experienced floods in a season that is far from heavy rain, such as December and March. Our managers are working every day, with the proposition of always safe and secure management of the park where everyone can easily drop in. When new members are added, we will be able to quickly install and remove equipment such as flood control doors and waterproof boards to protect facilities and machinery from floods, such as closing work that prohibits access to parks in preparation for floods, and training and practice repeatedly. When talking with people in the neighborhood, we often ask about the value of the Yusuichi function, taking into account the flood before the construction of the stadium.

In order to meet the expectations of everyone who comes with various purposes, all staff members are proud and responsible for working at this stadium, aiming to become "parks and stadiums that will want to go again" and manage and operate. .
What memories do you have at Nissan Stadium (Shin-Yokohama Park)? If you have no connection yet, please come and create wonderful memories. We look forward to your visit!
