Yokohama Zoo ZOORASIA (outside site) was created in a corner of the Sanbo and Shinji districts, one of the seven major green bases established by Yokohama City to systematically carry out green conservation, and opened in April 1999. At the "Nature Experience Forest" in the park, you can still enjoy the seasonal flowers and wild birds. Yokohama also has other Nogeyama Zoo and Kanazawa Zoo, and having three zoos in the city is rare in Japan.

The Yokohama Zoo ZOORASIA, whose main theme is "Symbiosis of Life and Harmony with Nature," divides a vast site of 45.3ha (approximately 10 Tokyo Dome) into eight zones according to the world's climate zone and region to reproduce the habitat. If you go around the park, you will feel as if you were enjoying a world trip. We are also focusing on the display and breeding of rare animals such as Tengu monkeys, Seth Jikinoborikangaroo and Dole, which can only be seen in ZOORASIA in Japan.

In the African Savanna Zone, which was fully opened in 2015 (2015), you can see carnivorous cheeters and herbivores Kirin, Eland and Grant Shimauma at the same exhibition hall.
I often hear the voice, "Cheter can't eat it?", But he has the habit of not attacking animals larger than himself. The Grant Shimauma, Kirin, and Eland exhibited together are large herbivores, which weigh many times more than Cheeter. Because of these four types, I was able to exhibit in the same space. Cheers chasing Grant Shimauma, chasing on the contrary, and herbivores maintaining an exquisite sense of distance.…。 The relationship that can only be seen by animals of different types living together is new discoveries when observed.
"Night ZOORASIA" where you can enjoy the zoo at night

And at Yokohama Zoo ZOORASIA, we hold various events that everyone can enjoy. There are plenty of "keepers' special time" where the person in charge, which introduces animals happily every day, the experience of contact at "Pikapaka Square", and seasonal events.
The Night ZOORASIA, which began in 2001 in 2001, is a popular event that can be said to be a summer tradition. Normally closed at 16:30, the opening hours will be extended to 20:30 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in August. The park, which is rich in nature, is lit up with illuminations, etc., and you can see the animals at night that you cannot usually see, such as the active appearance of nocturnal animals and the sleeping of daytime animals. Guides and night bird shows are also held by breeders to learn about the detailed ecology of the animals. And at hands-on events such as horse feeding experiences and craft classes, you will be able to take home not only memories but also your own works.
ZOORASIA has been preparing for the Night ZOORASIA several months ago. Checking and pruning the lighting in the park, developing special menus at restaurants, planning various events, and preparing illumination decorations.
In addition, an event called "ZOORASIA Night Festa" will be held at Korokoro Square at the same time. At the venue, food stalls and kitchen cars from various countries such as Hawaiian, Italian, and Asian food will appear. In the quiz rally, you can get special images by going around 5 rally points and answering animal quizzes. On the special stage, "Let's sing together!" A concert will be held. You can sing with your singing sister or enjoy playing an unusual instrument called hand-operated organ.
