List of Targets for the 2023 Tsuzuki Library

This year, the Tsuzuki Library will focus particularly on the following goals: This list of goals has been formulated based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", and "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward.

Promotion of reading activities to enrich citizens' learning

Perspective of Initiatives: Expansion of reading activities utilizing various opportunities such as reading days and reading activity promotion month

Initiatives

・In cooperation with ward office, we carry out "Tsukiki Book Festa" to hold autumn reading event in cooperation with ward office and civic group (November).
・We carry out "Miyagoto Chuzu no Okake Library" to go to facilities and events in the city to introduce books and talk sessions (all year)
・Exhibitions of books (monthly) and special exhibitions (about 10 times) according to the season and various themes at the general public, teens, and elementary school student.
・Regularly disseminating information on events, special exhibitions, etc. through the public relations Yokohama Tsuzuki Ward   version, the library website, and Twitter
・Held lectures and exhibitions related to local history in Tsuzuki Ward   (March)

Perspective of Initiatives: Support for reading activities for the elderly and people with disabilities

Initiatives

・Supporting dementia support activities by participating in the Tsuzuki Ward   Dementia Support Liaison Committee and providing books to help prevent and raising awareness of dementia.
・Conducted a lively reading class for elderly people.

Establishing children's reading habits

Perspective of Initiatives: Promotion of reading activities according to the child's developmental stage

Initiatives

・In the library, we hold a “Kuma-san's Story Meeting” for parents and children, and a “Myagoto Chuzu no Talk” for children.
・Held the first talk session for parents and children who have never participated in a talk session (four times a year)
・We hold "Miyagoto Chuzu no Talk" at events for local child care support bases and events for child care households
・Promote support for school libraries by distributing support programs for elementary and junior high schools.
・Acceptance of elementary and junior high school students to library tours (all year)
・Acceptance of work experience and training for special needs school students (all year)
・Enhanced collection of apple shelves
・Holding POP exhibition created by junior high school and high school students in the city (January and February)

Enhancement of books to help citizens read and solve problems

Perspective of Initiatives: Enhance book materials to meet local needs

Initiatives

・Enhanced collection of books of knowledge useful for students in elementary school student (about 140 books)
・Enhanced collection of picture books for infants (about 280 books)
・Purchase of picture books, stories, and picture-story shows that have been read by children for a long time (about 270 books).
・Promoting the replacement of books by identifying missing materials, series, and multiple scrolls (215 books)
・Enhanced collections of foreign literature and introductory books.

Expanding the number of people who promote reading activities

Perspective of Initiatives: Support for volunteers to support reading activities

Initiatives

・Held lectures for school library volunteers and support for story-telling volunteer activities (all year)
・Promotion of exchange between school library volunteers and civic groups (school library volunteer exchange meeting)

Initiatives

・Participation in training (at least twice per person) to improve coordination skills for schools, reading-related facilities, etc., and improving reference skills to respond to local issues.
