Minami Library Target List for FY2023
This fiscal year, Minami Library will focus on the following goals: This list of goals has been formulated based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", and "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward.

Considering the way of redevelopment and systematically carry out repairs and rebuilding
Perspective of Initiatives: Planned implementation of repair and rebuilding of aging City Library
Initiatives
(1)Participate in design for renewal of water supply equipment as a measure to extend the life of facilities (all year)
(2)Renovation and repair of facilities and equipment from the perspective of disaster prevention and anti-crime program (all year)

Promotion of reading activities to enrich citizens' learning
Perspective of Initiatives: Expansion of reading activities utilizing various opportunities such as reading days and reading activity promotion month
Initiatives
(1)Exhibition of books according to the general public and elementary school student (monthly)
(2)Information on events in the public relations Yokohama Minami Ward version (monthly) and book introduction by serial article "Kuraburari" (July, August, December, January, March)
(3)Held “Library Tanken Corps” and “Frightening Storytelling” as events to promote the use of elementary school student (July and August).
(4)Provision of reused library at the Minami Ward Cultural Festival (November)

Perspective of Initiatives: Support for reading activities for the elderly and people with disabilities
Initiatives
(1)We purchase more than 60 books annually to meet the needs of the elderly, such as materials on themes of high interest to senior generations and materials that are large and easy to read.

Establishing children's reading habits
Perspective of Initiatives: Promotion of reading activities according to the child's developmental stage

(1)Regular talk sessions for infants by librarians (monthly)
(2)Started a program to introduce children's songs and picture books at 4-month-old children in cooperation with Minami Ward Children and Families Support Division.

Perspective of Initiatives: Schools, boards of education and other related organizations work together to study the creation of a place for children to live and experience social experiences using Chuo-toshokan facilities.

Initiatives
(1)Conducted training for school librarians (June). In addition, upon request, we conduct training for faculty and staff and consultation on environmental improvement of school library.

Enhancement of books to help citizens read and solve problems
Perspective of Initiatives: Enhance book materials to meet local needs
Initiatives
(1)Reinforce books and books in the field of philosophy, and replace or replenishes more than 60 books
(2)Purchased more than 30 books to support employment
(3)Purchased more than 30 books related to SDGs
(4)Replacement and renewal of basic books and standard books for elementary school junior high school students and picture books for 0 to 2 years old, and replenish the picture book corner for the first time, purchase more than 120 books a year.

Expanding the number of people who promote reading activities

Initiatives
(1)Repair courses for volunteer book repair volunteers (around February)
(2)Conducted a series of lectures for beginners, "Warabe Uta and Picture Book Association" for beginners for talk volunteers for infants (around November)
(3)Replaced and updated large picture books to support volunteers and purchased more than 8 books.

Strengthening and collaborating bases for reading activities
Perspective of Initiatives: Strengthen library functions as a regional information base
Initiatives
(1)Reference examples are registered in the library information system and shared.
(2)Based on the human resource development plan, each librarian attends at least once.
(3)Some of the materials in the medical information corner, which was viewed in the hall, will be rented and used to promote use. In addition, the corner will be moved from the back wall on the second floor to the space near the stairs and publicize it to visitors.
(4)Consider revising the layout of "general library" in order to arrange bookshelves in consideration of user convenience.

(3)The new On Japan Corner was set up in Children's Toshoshitsu to purchase more than 10 books and foreign language materials translated from Japanese picture books to support elementary school student.
