Midori Library Target List for FY2023

This fiscal year, Midori Library will focus on the following goals: This list of goals has been formulated based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", and "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward.

Considering the way of redevelopment and systematically carry out repairs and rebuilding

Perspective of Initiatives: Planned implementation of repair and rebuilding of aging City Library

Initiatives

(1)A field survey was conducted by coordinating with the complex facilities on defects such as equipment and equipment (July).
(2)Promoting the use of LED lighting equipment (March)

Promotion of reading activities to enrich citizens' learning

Initiatives

(1)By displaying books according to the season and various themes, we introduce various library materials and read opportunities (monthly).
(2)"Kaekko Book" is held at the Midori Ward People's Festival (October)

Establishing children's reading habits

Perspective of Initiatives: Promotion of reading activities according to the child's developmental stage

Initiatives

(1)Lending baby picture book set (700 books a year)
(2)Holding talks by age (34 times a year)
(3)Distribution of picture books at Midori Ward Check ups for Infants and Toddlers (monthly, by age)
(4)Distribution of leaflets from 0 to Library (4,400 copies per year) to those in Midori Ward.
(5)Conducted library volunteer experience for junior and senior high school students (August)
(6)In cooperation with junior and senior high schools, we held an exhibition introducing books recommended by junior and senior high school students (November).
(7)Acceptance of work experience for junior high school students and internships for high school students (twice a year)

Enhancement of books to help citizens read and solve problems

Perspective of Initiatives: Enhance book materials to meet local needs

Initiatives

(1)Enhance health books that are of interest to senior citizens (43 books per year)
(2)Updating materials in the Teens Corner (30 books per year)
(3)Enhancement of picture books published in picture book corner and book list published by City Library (50 books a year)
(4)Replacement and replenishment of materials useful for research and learning according to the needs of faculty and staff (50 books per year).

Expanding the number of people who promote reading activities

Initiatives

(1)In collaboration with talk volunteers, we hold talks (34 times a year)
(2)Talking volunteers at Tokaichiba Nursery School (11 times a year)
(3)Information exchange meetings with volunteer talk (twice a year)
(4)Repair of materials by book repair volunteers (630 books per year)
(5)Information exchange with book repair volunteers (once a year)
(6)Held a story-telling lecture by librarians for university students studying childcare (June)

Strengthening and collaborating bases for reading activities

Initiatives

(1)Examples of references among staff members using morning meeting time and registration of cases in the Yokohama City Library reference shared database (20 cases per year).
(2)Promotion of Faculty and Staff References (30 times a year)
(3)An article introducing recommended picture book is published in the mini comic magazine (12 times a year).
(4)Introduces new recommended books for the general public and teens on the "Bookshelf of the Month" on the homepage (monthly).
(5)Exhibit and introduction of Yokohama City's efforts together with library materials (5 times a year)

Perspective of Initiatives: Strengthening cooperation with related facilities

Initiatives

(1)Held talks and picture book panel exhibitions at the Green Story Festa sponsored by the Midori Ward Regional Child Care Support Center (May to June).
(2)Group lending to volunteers, nursery schools, After-School Care Program Clubs, etc. (2,000 books per year)
(3)In cooperation with Midori Ward Children and Families Support Division, we conduct training for staff at childcare and educational facilities in Midori Ward (once a year).
(4)Promotion of lending to faculty and staff (1,300 books per year)
