2019 Fire and Emergency Overview (Preliminary Report)

①Decreased in the number of fires! Fire rate ※For the first time since City of Yokohama, Fire Bureau was inaugurated!
・The number of fires in 2019 was 685, which fell below the 700 level for the first time in 64 years since 1955.
The fire rate dropped further from the previous year (1.9) to 1.8 for the first time since City of Yokohama, Fire Bureau was established in 1948.
※The fire rate refers to the number of fires per 10,000 population.
・Of the 428 building fires, 264 were house fires, reducing the proportion of house fires in building fires.
・Among house fires, fires caused by stoves are the most common, and fires caused by wiring equipment and electrical equipment are on the rise.
② The number of emergency participations exceeds 210,000, a record high for the ninth consecutive year!
・The number of emergency participations was 212,395, an increase of 8,627 from the previous year, and the number of transport personnel was 182,646, an increase of 6,574 from the previous year, a significant increase from 2018, the highest ever.
・Looking at the number of transport personnel by age, the number of elderly transport was increasing in all ages, and in particular, the number of elderly transport was 102,618, an increase of 3,361 from the previous year, a significant increase.
