Episode 7: The fox of the dew Kitani
Last Updated March 15, 2024
Once upon a time, the winter of one year was also over. A bride of a farmer in Seya-mura returned home to Kamikawai-mura for childbirth and gave birth to a boy safely.
When I heard this news, my father-in-law put red rice in a heavy box (jubako), which was inspired by the celebration of his first grandson's seven night (Hichiya), and went out to his bride's parents' home. .
Plenty of grandchild's face was also awarded, a feast, and his father-in-law, who was completely in good mood, came home after seeing his time.
When the furoshiki package of a heavy box containing the returned red beans is tied to the middle, and the four bottles of congratulatory sake (Iwaizake) are placed on a small side and sent to Tsuyukidani, the sky that I was about to give. Snow fluttered from.
By the time I came around Yatsuzuka, the sun was full. This is the site of the old battlefield, where it is said that the samurai who died and died were buried, and the mountain path is divided into eight directions from here. On the dark, snowy road, the lights of the lanterns were vaguely rather than vague, and my father-in-law suddenly lost his way as soon as he tried to pass through this clever place.
If you walk or walk to a similar place, but stop your tired feet and see something that looks like a house light in the distance.
"I did it."
When I was relieved, the wind suddenly stood out from my feet and turned out the lantern fire.
At that moment, my father-in-law was caught from behind, and immediately fell into the river.
"Help me. Help me."
When I was shouting in the river of Kurayami, fortunately the villagers passed by and helped me.
The house was surprised to see him coming back with a wet mouse.
When I arrived early, my father-in-law talked about this strange event, taking care of it.
"Oh, I'm sure it's the ruin of a fox. I've heard the story before with strange eyes at Yatsuzuka. If you're an elderly person, in such a case, you should take a break or bring a lit incense stick. "
"And so it's a terrible fox that lets my grandfather run water."
And that night, the surroundings of the irori were full of the story of the fox.
In the morning, my father noticed that there was no furoshiki tsuzumi and a bottle of congratulatory sake with a heavy souvenir box. He worked with the house and looked for it, but he didn't find something like that, and there was something like a fox's footprint on the snow.
