Episode 6: Begging for rain in Hashido
Last Updated March 15, 2024
Once upon a time, there was a year of great sunshine. The paddy fields cracked like turtles, the rice remained sparse, and the vegetables in the fields were almost cut down.
This was a big matter, and the people of the village of Hashido gathered and consulted about Amago.
"Rain is what Ryujin falls, and let's make a large dragon with straw and accompany the dragon god of the river."
"No, let's get the water of Oyama, the god of rain, and let's go in."
"If you do both, you will be a spiritual test Arata."
The story was organized, and immediately brought straw from Muranaka Sogo to make a very large dragon, set a green bamboo in the middle of the river under Ekobashi and wrapped the dragon. In addition, we decided to select several pairs of young people with fast feet one by one and run to Oyama to get water. The young man who returned after receiving water from the bamboo cylinder stopped a little and continued to run to the village without a break, and took the water home because it would rain there.
The water brought back is poured from the head of the dragon, and the village is signaled by a half bell of Saifukuji Temple.
"Rokune Kiyojo, let it rain! Rikune Kiyo, let it rain!"
I prayed. In response to this call, the villagers all at once
"Ryujin-sama, Aburi-sama, please let it rain."
And he shook a straw like a little thousand dragons and begged for rain.
Then, it was mysterious and cloudy all over the day, and a large amount of rain fell.
