Naka-Horikawa is a river that joins Katabira River from the headwaters near Kamishirane, Asahi-ku.
In the Shirane, Asahi-ku districts, there is a Shiraito Falls with a drop of 3.2 meters.
The planned renovation section is located at the junction of Katabira River from Saitobashi, upstream. Upstream, there are some areas designated as urbanization adjustment areas, but the renovated sections flow through the city.

A long time ago, it is said that a large waterfall with a width of about 9m and a head of 5.5m was located in the Shirane, Asahi-ku area, but it was a diagonal route due to erosion for a long time.
Therefore, as part of the “Promenade Project for Water, Greenery and History” from 1987, the restoration of the waterfall was planned because this area is one of the few places where natural scenery surrounded by greenery was left. . While harmonizing the historical and cultural heritage with the surrounding citizen-use facilities, it was developed as an attractive hydrophilic space with `` rest '' and `` ease '' in consideration of the landscape of the surrounding environment, and completed in 1991 Did.
