Naka Horikawa

Naka Horikawa is a river that descends south from the headwaters near Kamishirane, Asahi-ku, and joins the Katabira River.

Sight

In the Shirane, Asahi-ku districts, there is a Shiraito Falls with a drop of 3.2 meters.

The planned renovation section is at the junction of the Katabira River from Saito Bridge upstream. Upstream, there are some areas designated as urbanization adjustment areas, but the renovation section flows through the city area.

Introduction of Waterside

Naka-Horikawa Shiraito Falls

It is said that there was a large direct waterfall with a width of about 9m and a drop of 5.5m in the Shirane, Asahi-ku districts, but it has become a ramp due to long erosion.

Therefore, as part of the "Promenade Project of Water, Greenery and History" since 1987, this area is one of the few places with a natural landscape surrounded by greenery, restoration of the waterfall was planned. While maintaining harmony between historical and cultural heritage and surrounding citizen facilities, it was developed as an attractive hydrophilic space with "rest" and "easiness" in consideration of the surrounding environment, and completed in 1991 completed.
