Sight

They are divided into the Ishizaki River, the Aratama River and the faction Aratama River near Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi and poured into Yokohama Port.

It is said that the name of Katabira River was derived from the fact that in the past the northern estuary coast was gentle and only one side was flat, the name "Katahira" occurred, which became the "mail" .

In 1958, full-scale river renovation work was started following Typhoon No. 22 (Kano River Typhoon). The enforcement section of Yokohama City is the section upstream from the junction of Naka-Horikawa and flows along the boundary between the former capital Okamura and Futamatagawa Village. This section was an almost unrepaired and meandering basin. Therefore, the renovation plan normal is short-cutting meandering so that it is as close as possible to a straight line.

More detailed information about Katabira River is also introduced on the "River Story" page. Check it out!

Introduction of waterside

Katabira River Waterfront Green Road

This water park has been maintained as part of the "Promenade Project of Water, Greenery and History" so that citizens can get close to the waterside.

This is a park that makes effective use of the riverbed space (Naka Horikawa junction-Tsurumai Bridge, extension 600m), and makes use of the valley scenery such as terrain, nature, and water flow. Construction was started in 1983 and completed in 1988.

Development of promenades along the riverside

We carry out road maintenance of riverside with planting using river management passage and old riverbed between Torigoe Bridge and Kiyoraiji Bridge. Because the river is deeply dug in Katabira River, the upper part of the seawall is gently laid down, and the use of green blocks to reduce the concrete surface.
