About flushing work

The area where the sewer has been maintained and the sewer can be treated at the water reclamation center is called the "treatment area".
Those who own buildings in the treatment area are required to have the following flushing work.

For consultation and construction of flushing work, be sure to ask the Yokohama City Drainage Equipment Designated Construction Shop (hereinafter referred to as “Designated Construction Shop”).
Washing work cannot be performed unless it is a designated construction shop! !

1. Check the details, costs, timing, etc. of the construction before contracting.
2. If you want to use the subsidy / loan system, apply before starting construction.

Subsidy and loan system
(Example of construction)

• Installation of drainage pipes from drains in toilets, kitchens, bathrooms, etc.
• Installation of rainwater pipes until rainwater connection
• Collect, clean, disinfect, and dig out dirt from septic tanks (toilet tanks)
• Install a toilet bowl and a water tank, and use the water supply pipe to piping (in the case of a toilet).

When performing flushing work, you must submit a drainage plan confirmation application to Public Works Office in advance to see if the work conforms to laws and regulations, and receive confirmation from the mayor.

When we abolished septic tank with flushing construction, presentation of "use of septic tank abolition notice" is necessary.

Yokohama City has established a subsidy and loan system in order to promote the flushing of toilets and the abolition of septic tanks. For more information, please contact Sewer Management Division or Public Works Office in each district.

Loans: Individuals and SMEs

Procedure

As a general rule, please apply within 3 years after entering the processing area. However, if you find that the following reasons have passed three years, you can receive grants and loans, so please consult with Public Works Office in your ward.

• It was financially difficult
• The building was scheduled to be removed or renovated.
• There were civil problems such as leased land.

Be sure to apply along with the drainage plan confirmation application before starting construction. The application documents are in Public Works Office, each district.

Loan conditions

Have the ability to repay the loan.
You must have a joint guarantor. (The joint guarantor must have the guarantee ability and, in principle, must be a resident of the city. If you live in the same house, you cannot be a joint guarantor.

Method of repayment

Fund transfer: Fund transfer is available at handling financial institution of Motoichi only for residents of the city.
Delivery Notice: We will send you a delivery notice from the Sewerage River Bureau. Please pay at the financial institution within the payment deadline every month.

Amount of subsidies and loans

As shown in the table below. (The loan will be loaned in units of 1,000 yen.)

The following constructions are not eligible for subsidies and loans.

• Washing work for new construction and complete renovation
• Carpenter work such as replacing the floor of the toilet and repainting the wall

In Yokohama City, a flushing extension counselor visits homes and offices where flushing work has not been completed in the treatment area. We also accept consultations on water washing. If you have any inquiries, please contact Sewer Management Division.
