Semi-underground building

Last update date April 1, 2024

Measures against inundation in semi-underground buildings and basements!

In recent years, from the viewpoint of effective use of land, there has been a lot of movement to use underground as a part of parking lots, storerooms, and living rooms.
Flood damage to semi-underground buildings due to typhoons and torrential rainfalls are increasing, and countermeasures against flooding in residential areas are important.

What's going on?
Due to typhoons and torrential rainfalls, rainwater may flow from roads into buildings and underground parking lots, causing flooding.
In addition, when a large amount of rainwater flows into the sewer, the water level in the sewer pipe rises sharply. The underground building has an underground floor.
If inundation countermeasures are not sufficient because they are lower than roads and ground surfaces, sewage may flow back from drains such as bathrooms and washrooms in the confluence area.

In order to protect life and property
Article 19 of the Building Standards Law stipulates that "the site of a building must have an appropriate sewer pipe, sewage ditch or other similar facilities for draining or treating rainwater and sewage." I am.
Please check again to ensure thorough measures against inundation.
If drainage due to natural flow is difficult, the pump can be installed at the responsibility of the installer.
In addition, rainwater pump drainage facilities are not eligible for drainage equipment plan confirmation application.
