Transferring ashes that have already been buried or stored to another graveyard or ossuary is called "reinterment." Reinterment requires a procedure in accordance with the provisions of the "Law Concerning Cemetery, Burials, etc. (Tomb Buried Law)"

Main procedures, flow and necessary items
This is an example of reinterment of ashes from a graveyard currently buried or stored graveyard to a new graveyard.
1. Determine a new graveyard to be buried and stored
Determine where to reinterment location, such as purchasing a new graveyard.
2. Obtain a “Reinterment Permit Application Form”
The application for reinterment permit will be the municipal office where the current graveyard is located.

3. Receiving a Certificate of Buried

- A "cemetery use permit" may be necessary to confirm current graveyard user.

4.Apply for a reinterment permit

Application method
When applying at the counter

5.Removal of ashes
Present the reinterment permit to the manager of the current graveyard and take out the remains (in that case, do not give the reinterment permit. You will need it in a new cemetery.)
6.Burying and storing in new graveyards
You can submit a reinterment permit to managers such as a new graveyard and bury and store ashes.
Precautions
You may need a "cemetery use permit" or "burial notice" (style determined by the manager) of the new cemetery. Please check with the manager of the new cemetery in advance.
