High billboards
Last Updated March 12, 2021
The high billboard is a facility established to ensure that the common people are thoroughly aware of the laws and regulations of the Shogunate.
Although it was important as a post town facility, it eventually disappeared as the means of information transmission was set up.
The high billboard at that time was near the west side of Kanagawa police department. The photo above has been restored in front of the Kanagawa District Center based on the materials. The scale was about 5 meters in frontage, 3.5 meters high, and 1.5 meters deep. (Published in Kanagawa-juku History Pamphlet)
