High billboard (Kosatsuba)

The high billboard is a facility established to ensure that the common people thoroughly understand the laws and regulations of the Shogunate.
It was important as a post town facility, but as the means of information transmission became ready in the Meiji era, it eventually disappeared.
The high billboard at that time was near the west side of Kanagawa police department. The photo above was restored in front of the Kanagawa District Center based on the materials. The scale was roughly 5 meters in frontage, 3.5 meters in height, and 1.5 meters in depth. （Pamphlet on the History of Kanagawajuku）
