As a destination of the U.S. Navy Yokosuka Supply Center Fuel Department in Japan, we temporarily store aircraft fuel (JP-8) transported by tanker from oil storage facilities (Azuma Warehouse Area) located in Yokosuka City, and from here by railway and car to Yokota Air Base. Supply to
There are 13 tanks (sea side; area I-4, land side; area II-9) and are said to have an oil storage capacity of about 120,000 kiloliters.

In order to prevent disasters such as oil complexes requested by Yokohama City, the Japan-US Joint Committee has agreed on basic matters concerning the conduct of on-site inspections of the U.S. military Tsurumi oil storage facility.

A fire broke out in tank No. 306 of Area II. The fire broke out in a joint activity between the city's Fire Bureau fire brigade and the U.S. military fire brigade.
November 25, 1985
Signed a mutual firefighting aid agreement between the Fire Bureau and the U.S. Navy in Japan (revised the agreement on May 20, 1980).
March 14, 1988
In response to the request of the city's safety measures, the Yokohama Defense Facilities Bureau has completed the maintenance and renovation of the oil and spill prevention embankment under the guidance of the Fire Bureau of the city.
September 5, 1990
Under the guidance of Fire Bureau, Yokohama Defense Facilities Bureau has completed construction of fire extinguishing equipment, water curtain equipment, cooling watering equipment, etc.
May 9, 1996
A Beper Recovery System (a device for collecting volatile gasoline) was completed within Area II.
May 24, 2001
As a result of the government's investigation of soil contamination in the facility, soil contamination caused by lead, which is 1.2 to 8.8 times the environmental standard value, was detected at a total of six locations within the facility.
June 27, 2001
Fuel oil spilled in the facility due to damage to the piping valve in the tank.
The US military, the Yokohama Coast Guard and the city recovered some oil spilled into nearby canals.
March 20, 2003
Regarding soil contamination within the facility, the Yokohama Defense Facilities Bureau has completed the countermeasures implemented in accordance with the guidelines of the Environment Agency.
