The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has designated June as “Town Development Month” every year since 1983, and has commended individuals or organizations that have been successful in creating attractive towns as the “Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award for Community Development”.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has been renewed, and the "Machizukuri Award" was established to take over the award, and the first award winners were announced on May 31, 2022.
From Yokohama City, two groups that have been successful in promoting town development through urban redevelopment projects were awarded.
