On March 21, 2023, the first vessel "APL Qingdao" (total length: approx. 354 m, vessel width: 46 m, maximum load capacity: 10,106TEU*) on the east coast of North America operated by CMA CGM (France), entered the port for the first time in Yokohama Port Honmaki Wharf D4 container terminal.
This will be the first direct service from Japan to the east coast of North America for the first time in about two years.
Yokohama Port is actively promoting the maintenance and expansion of its core routes to strengthen the competitiveness of strategic international container ports. We expect that the revival of export routes to the east coast of North America will lead to strengthening Yokohama Port's hub function in Asia and ensuring smooth logistics for shippers in Japan.
(Note) TEU: The number of containers converted at 20 feet
