Yokohama Port's main export item is finished vehicles, and Daikoku Futo is "the largest automobile handling base in East Japan". On April 1, 2022, Yokohama Port Wharf Co., Ltd. has completed the conversion of Daikoku Futo C4 container terminal to an automobile terminal.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Yokohama City have deepened the water depth of the P3 and P4 quays on the Yokohama route side of Daikoku Wharf from 7.5m to 12m in order to respond to the larger size of car-only vessels and the increase in the number of docking ships from FY2015. We have been promoting improvement work to extend the extension from 260m to 290m and expanding the cargo handling area.
The redevelopment has been completed, and the service will begin on April 15 as a P3 quay. Combined with the adjacent T3 to T8 quay, it will be one of Japan's largest continuous berth with a length of 1,400m in length, which allows five large car-only vessels with a total length of 200m.
As a result, Daikoku Futo will become one of Japan's largest automobile handling bases, capable of eleven large car carriers to arrive at the same time, further enhancing Yokohama Port's automobile handling functions.
