With the aim of realizing a decarbonized society by 2050, Yokohama Port is promoting the formation of carbon neutral ports in cooperation with the national government and private businesses.
Consortium consisting of the Nippon Yusen Group and others is promoting the development of tugboats with low environmental impact that sails using ammonia as fuel, aiming for demonstration operation around FY2024 (Reiwa 6).
Today, IHI Motor Co., Ltd., Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, Nippon Yusen K.K. and Yokohama City signed a memorandum of understanding, and decided to cooperate on the smooth acceptance of ammonia fuel tugboats at Yokohama Port. I will let you know.
