Yokohama Port Statistics Bulletin for 2022 has been finalized.

Container cargo was strong, and the number of containers in domestic trade exceeded before the COVID-19 pandemic, a record high.

　Despite disruptions in global supply chains due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, cargo volume handled in 2022 increased 1.4% year-on-year to 106.22 million tons. The number of containers handled increased 4.1% year-on-year to 2.98 million units, both of which recovered to almost the same level as before the COVID-19 crisis. In particular, the number of containers handled in domestic trade increased by 21.8% year-on-year to a record high of 350,000 units, mainly due to the progress in collecting cargo from domestic ports by domestic vessels.
　Volume of automobile-related cargo increased 2.5% year on year to 20.42 million tons. Of these, imports of finished vehicles increased by 17.0% year-on-year to 1.1 million tons, exceeding the previous year before the COVID-19 pandemic.
