As a training sailing ship built in 1930, Sail Training Ship, Nippon Maru contributed to the shipping industry by training many seafarers and is valuable in the history of shipbuilding technology in Japan.
On September 15, 2017, 2017, we received high praise for the fact that many records such as navigation and radio journals remained.
It has been designated as a cultural property and has reached its fifth year.
In fiscal 2018, we removed all the sea water from the dock and carried out large-scale repairs to the bottom of the ship in Sail Training Ship, Nippon Maru.
Continuous maintenance and repair is required, such as rusting of the iron part.
In addition, many journals that describe Sail Training Ship, Nippon Maru's voyage activities are severely damaged over time, and if the deterioration progresses further.
The restoration itself will be difficult.
In this year marks the 5th anniversary of the designation of Important Cultural Properties, the Sail Training Ship, Nippon Maru Memorial Foundation, the designated manager of Sail Training Ship, Nippon Maru, provided crowdfunding.
We will raise donations widely and aim to repair severely damaged radio journals and maintain and repair the hull.
