Explanatory items

(1) About the revised part of the "Proposal" draft
(2) Introduction of opinions and amendments from market-related businesses
(3) Future schedules

  • On March 10, a proposal was submitted to the Yokohama City Central Wholesale Market Establishment Management Council.
  • On the same day, after obtaining the consent of the council, we will report to the mayor on "Examination of the way of Yokohama City Central Wholesale Market". After that, a press release.
  • On March 12, the report was submitted to the Yokohama City Council Economic Tourism and Ports Committee.
  • The “Review Committee” will be dissolved upon the decision of the council after the proposal has been approved by the council.
Summary of Main Remarks

(1) About amendment 1

  • It is better to have a description of the market's response to "changes in consumer behavior to eating and eating out."
  • In the future, the wholesale market will need to capture commercial demand. It is better to add the expression "business demand response" somewhere.

(2) About amendment 5

  • Yokohama, which has a population of 3.6 million, requires at least two markets as a base for supplying food and other food to citizens. If it is impossible to have two central wholesale markets, one should survive together with the logistics center because it should be a local wholesale market. There is a problem with the city's operating costs, but may the problem be solved by reducing operating costs as a local wholesale market?
  • Even in local wholesale markets, such as Kawasaki and Fujisawa, the founder is a city. There is a cost issue, but I think it would be better for Yokohama City to be involved. Therefore, it is better to remove the word "private"?

(3) Other opinions

  • Although there is a description of "market with strong collection and sales capabilities", the market size is required to strengthen the collection and sales capabilities. Without a certain size, it is better to have two markets, as cargo will not collect when there is really a shortage of goods.
  • 2. I think that being one market will be a reduction in physical terms. "It's not a mistake to make Yokohama one market despite a big city," he said.
  • The situation is quite different between fisheries and fruits and vegetables. As a result of the decrease in catches, collection has become very difficult, and it is becoming better to collect it in one market. When it comes to fisheries, it is better to integrate it with the current amount of handling.
  • (Regarding the transfer from the general account) The meaning is different between subsidies provided for so-called "hakomono" and subsidies are provided in the kitchen of citizens. I think there are many financial problems, but it should be considered on the premise that it contributes to the dietary habits of citizens, not for market participants.
  • 2. As a result of the market becomes one market, stakeholders can rationalize, but I do not know what the supply system for citizens will be. We think that it will save waste, but may have been that waste may have been helpful for citizens' eating habits. Next year, I would like you to dig deeper into that area.
  • The proposal describes hygiene, but not pesticides. It may be difficult to deal with pesticides in a vertical division system, but it would be nice if there is a function in the market that can thoroughly conduct such investigations.
  • Looking at the whole, I feel that financial problems are inevitably coming out. If the improvement of the balance of income and expenditure and the review of facility usage fees strongly come out, I feel that the company will pull my feet when the company is trying to sound and revitalize management.
  • "We must do our best and use a method of reviewing the market usage fee and balancing the income and expenditure after doing our best."
  • This industry isn't making a big profit. Everybody is doing business that is really shaving. It is clear that sales commissions are decreasing and "Please increase the handling volume more", but I think it is difficult for businesses to raise commissions while the handling volume is decreasing.
