Project in Lao PDR

Since 2012, we have been participating in the JICA Technical Cooperation Project, which aims to provide safe and stable water supply for 90% of urban areas by 2030, with the Saitama Prefectural Enterprise Bureau, Water Works Bureau in Saitama City, and Water Works Bureau in Kawasaki City, and other organizations in Laos.

１．JICA Technical Cooperation "Wasu Corporation Business Management Capability Improvement Project (commonly known as MaWaSU Project)" (August 2012-August 2017)
In the finance (business management department), a total of seven staff members were dispatched to the Vientiane Water Supply Corporation, Luang Prabang Water Supply Corporation, and Kamu Ain Water Supply Corporation, which are the target of the pilot project, We supported the spread to the National Water Supply Corporation by providing financial planning, providing guidance on how to revise fees, etc.

２．JICA Technical Cooperation “Water Supply Business Operation Management Capacity Improvement Project (commonly known as MaWaSU2)” (May 2018-December 2023)
In the successor project, we supported the improvement of financial capacity through dispatch of staff and acceptance of trainees, with the ultimate goal of enabling the Laos National Water Corporation to conduct business operations based on an independent accounting system from a medium- to long-term perspective. During the MaWaSU2 period, we accepted 15 trainees and dispatched a total of 5 experts.

３．JICA Technical Cooperation “Water Supply Business Operation Management Capacity Improvement Project (commonly known as MaWaSU3)” (planned from February 2024 to February 2028)
In January 2024 (Reiwa 6), as the third phase of the project, the relevant local government and JICA concluded an agreement on a project to improve water supply business operation and management capacity, and continued to cooperate toward solving problems in Laos. I am.
