Information on measures to prevent legionellosis
Legionella disease can be prevented by proper hygiene management of equipment.
For public baths and inn business facilities, we stipulate basic hygiene management to prevent the proliferation of Legionella spp.

If the user of the facility is found to have legionellosis patients (including suspected) or if the result of the water quality test is inappropriate, such as the detection of Legionella spp. from the equipment to be managed, immediately contact the Health and Welfare Center Health Sanitation Division, where the facility is located.

Basising laws and regulations
- Under the “Public Bath Law Enforcement Ordinance” and the “Ryokan Business Law Enforcement Detailed Regulations”, business operators are required to prepare a self-management guide.
- Similarly, the “Yokohama City Legionella Disease Prevention Measures Guidance Guidelines”, the creation of guidebooks, equipment ledgers, and annual management plans, etc.
Purpose
The Voluntary Management Guide is a document (management manual) that specifically defines the plans, methods, procedures, etc. for daily hygiene management and maintenance of equipment and equipment, etc., with the aim of preventing health damage such as legionellosis. ). As shown in the table below, create a self-management guide, carry out maintenance based on the prescribed procedures, verify the validity of the procedure by water quality inspection, etc., and review the plan as necessary. In addition to complying with the standards set forth in the regulations, etc., it is possible to maintain and manage according to the situation of the facility.

Basic approach to hygiene management
When microorganisms breed in the equipment and biological membranes are formed and established, Legionella spp. In order to improve this situation, we will properly clean and disinfect the equipment based on the self-management manual. It is also important to take measures to prevent the scattering of aerosols (micro water droplets) containing Legionella spp.
How to prepare a self-management manual
The self-management guidebook is a document that summarizes matters related to the maintenance and management of equipment, but if there is a system drawing, equipment table, manuals for workers, etc. already created at the facility, It can be organized and utilized. Please confirm that the following (1) to (4) are organized in manuals created at the facility.

(2)About hygiene management plan and management procedure (see table below for details).
(3)Revision and improvement of plans and procedures based on water quality inspections and inspection records
(4)Responses to emergencies and accidents

Operation of self-management manuals
Perform maintenance based on the self-management manual that you have created, and record the results in a checklist.
Based on the recorded checklist and the results of the water quality inspection, examine the adequacy of the created plan and procedure, revise the self-management guide as necessary, and review the maintenance procedure. In addition, when regulations such as the Public Bath Law enforcement regulations are revised or when facilities are updated, review of self-management guidebook is necessary.
