Ayumi of the previous library (City Library chronological table)
Last Updated November 20, 2024
Since opening in 1921 at a temporary reading site in Yokohama Park, we have been walking with citizens for more than 100 years.
After opening, there were times when buildings and collections were burned down due to the Great Kanto Earthquake, multiple relocations during the war, and library hardships.
After the war, society changed drastically, such as the population growth during the period of high economic growth, the spread of lifelong learning, and the spread of the Internet, and libraries were created from one building in Noge to all 18 wards, and the library information system was operating. Changed greatly.
Yokohama City Library will continue to connect people with books, connect people with each other, gather local information, and play a role as a regional base.
