Ayumi of the Library (City Library Chronology)

Last update date December 25, 2023

Since we opened a temporary reading place in Yokohama Park in 1921 (Daisho 10), we have been walking with citizens for as many as 100 years.
After its opening, there were times when buildings and collections were burned down due to the Great Kanto Earthquake, several relocations during the war, and the library was hardship.
After the war, society changed drastically due to population growth, the spread of lifelong learning, and the spread of the Internet during the period of high economic growth, the spread of lifelong learning, and the spread of the Internet. Changed greatly.
Yokohama City Library will continue to connect people and books, connect people, gather local information, and play a role as a regional hub.
