About the use of neighboring city library (wide area use)

To Yokohama citizens

Yokohama citizens will be in libraries in Kawasaki City, Kamakura City, Fujisawa City, and Yamato City from March 1, 2017, at the Yokosuka City Library from April 3, 2018, and from November 2020. Books can be borrowed at the library in Zushi City.

How to use it

  • It is necessary to register for use at each library of Kamakura City, Kawasaki City, Zushi City, Fujisawa City, Yamato City, Yokosuka City, and Machida City (cannot be borrowed with a library card in Yokohama City).
  • Please bring a certificate that can be confirmed by Address to the library of each city and complete the registration procedure. Your card will be issued immediately and you can borrow a book from that day.
  • The book you borrowed will be returned to the library of the city you borrowed.
  • The number of books you can borrow and duration vary depending on the library in each city.
  • Reservations (waiting for returning books on loan, order books, requesting purchase of new books) are not allowed.

Libraries in other cities where Yokohama citizens can borrow books directly

To citizens of Kamakura, Kawasaki, Zushi, Fujisawa, Yamato, Yokosuka, and Machida.

You can borrow books in 18 Yokohama City Library and the mobile library with the Makaze.

  • It is necessary to register for use at the library in Yokohama City (cannot be borrowed with library cards in Kamakura City, Kawasaki City, Zushi City, Fujisawa City, Yamato City, Yokosuka City, Machida City).
  • Please bring a certificate that can be confirmed by Address to the Yokohama City Library and complete the registration procedure. A total of 18 libraries and mobile libraries will be issued cards that can be used in the Makaze issue, and you can borrow books from that day.
  • The book you borrowed will be returned to the library in Yokohama City.
  • Up to 10 books per person can be borrowed for 2 weeks (14 opening days) in the entire building.
  • Reservations (waiting for returning books on loan, order books, requesting purchase of new books) are not allowed. (If you are commuting to Yokohama City, you can make a reservation.)
