Creating an environment where everyone can vote easily
In Yokohama-shi, we work on improvement of facilities and administration of polling place aiming at "creating environment that anyone can easily vote" so that all voters who came to vote can vote safely and safely.

Facilities and considerations at polling stations
Wheelchair
Wheelchairs are available at all polling places in the city.
If you need assistance, such as wheelchair assistance in the polling place, please let us know as the staff will help you.
Step correction slope
At polling places where there is a step at the entrance of the building, slopes are installed to eliminate the steps.

This is a entry stand with a lower position than the normal type, so that it can be used while riding a wheelchair.
Elderly people can also sit on chairs and vote.
Reading glasses
A reading glasses are available for those who are difficult to see the characters on notices such as names (the names of candidates and political parties are written).
Paperweight
We have prepared a paperweight to hold the ballot paper.
For people with physical disabilities
Proxy voting
If it is difficult to fill out the ballot on your own due to illness, injury, disability, etc., there is a "proxy voting" system in which a polling place staff fills out the ballot on behalf of the polling place and vote. The secrets of voting is strictly protected, so if you wish, please contact the polling place staff.
However, it is limited to those who can indicate the name of the candidate or political party you want to vote. In addition, accompanying family members cannot write on ballot papers.
For those who are blind
Braille voting
If you are blind, you can vote in Braille. If you are going to vote in Braille, you can ask the staff and we will give you a ballot dedicated to Braille.
In addition, notices such as Braille devices and names (list of candidates and political parties names in Braille) are also available.
"Voting Guide" with Braille Sticker
We attach Braille sticker of "date, type of election, polling place, contact information" to person who wants so that "voting guidance" can be understood as election information. If you wish, please apply to the Election Commission.

For people with hearing or speech disabilities
Installation of earmarks and writing set
A display board with "ear mark" is installed at the reception desk of the polling place.
A writing set is also available, so the staff will respond by writing according to the wishes of the elector.
Communication board
We have a polling place version of communication board where you can exchange about voting just by pointing your finger. If you would like to use this service, please contact the staff.
In addition, please download or print it to a smartphone or tablet terminal as needed.

About entrance such as companions to polling place
Assistants and caregivers who always care for the physically challenged electors can enter the polling place with the elector.
Service dogs (guide dogs, service dogs, hearing dogs) can also be taken to polling places.
About parking space of polling place
In each polling place, we try to secure parking space for people with a disability.
※Please note that there are polling places where parking spaces cannot be secured on the premises depending on the facility.

If you are going to come to the polling place by car, it is convenient to vote early at the commercial facility "Tressa Yokohama".
In addition to large parking lots (accommodating 2,700 cars, free all day), barrier-free facilities such as priority parking spaces and multipurpose toilets are provided.

About Braille version, recording version of election bulletin
We will prepare a Braille version and a recording version (compact disc) of the "Election Bulletin", which contains the political views of candidates and political parties, and deliver them to those who need it.
