How to vote

Last Updated December 14, 2023

Elections are based on voting at polling places on election dates (voting dates). This is called the polling place voting principle on the day of voting.
Here, we will introduce how to vote at the polling place on the day of the voting day.
Voting time is from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Flow of Voting

Flow of Voting (from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications website)

1. I will go to the designated polling place.

As the election approaches, a "voting guide" will be mailed to households with those who can vote.

The "Voting Guide" lists the voting date, the time you can vote, and the designated polling place, so check carefully and go to the polling place with your own.

2. You will be checked in the list.

We submit "guidance of vote" to reception desk and receive confirmation whether it is listed in electoral list.

If you do not receive or lose your voting information, you can still vote if you can ask your Address, name and date of birth and verify your identity. I don't need any ID.

3. I'll receive a ballot.

You will receive a ballot in exchange for the confirmed "voting guide". At this time, I will explain how to vote.

4. Please fill out the ballot on the ballot.

There is a pencil on the ballot entry table, and there is a list of candidates' names etc. on the front.

Check carefully and list one candidate who wants to vote from the list on the ballot.

(Note) Depending on the election, the name of the political party, not the personal name, may be listed.

5. I will mail the ballot paper to the ballot box.

Put the ballot in the ballot box. This is the end of the vote.

(Note) Some elections may be held together. In that case, you will get a ballot for each election and repeat the vote.
