Right to vote (right to vote)

The right to vote is the right to select representatives of the national or local governments (prefectures, municipalities) in the election.

  • Japanese citizens aged 18 or older
  • Those who have had Address in the same municipality in Kanagawa Prefecture for more than three months and continue to have Address in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Representative Kanagawa
The Mayor of Yokohama
  • Japanese citizens aged 18 or older
  • Those who have Address in Yokohama City for more than 3 months
Representative Yokohama-shi
  • In order to actually vote, you need to be registered in the electoral list of the Election Commission.

Right to be elected (right to run for the candidate)

The right to be elected is the right to run for members of parliament and members of local governments (prefectures, municipalities) and heads.

  • Japanese citizens aged 25 or older
Representative Yokohama-shi
  • Japanese citizens aged 25 or older
  • Person who has the right to vote in Yokohama-shi congressist election
  • The age at which the right to vote and the right to be elected is calculated based on the election date (voting date).
  • Even if the requirements are met, those who are sentenced to crime do not have the right to vote or be elected during that period.
