New Port Wharf
Last Updated May 14, 2021
Construction started in 1899 and was completed in 1917. It is the only wharf that preserves historical structures such as Akarengasoko and Hammerhead cranes even after the Great Kanto Earthquake. At present, the redevelopment of the Minato Mirai 21 Shinko area has led to the improvement of public facilities such as Kisha-Michi Promenade and Akarengasoko. In addition, in October 2019, the Japan Coast Guard's Yokohama Marine Disaster Prevention Facilities and the Yokohama Hammerhead (Shinko Wharf Passenger Ship Terminal), which integrates commercial facilities and hotels, opened as a new cruise base.
